THE SILK SCARF
1. The setting of this story is the Oriental Plaza in Johannesburg, a centre where the shops are owned by Indian people.
2. PLOT: Mrs. Nebo and her friend Margaret went to the Oriental Plaza in Ford burg in a Mercedes Benz drove by her chauffeur, followed by another Mercedes Benz in which there two escorts. Mrs. Nebo is the wife of Clive Nebo who is the Foreign Affairs Minister in the new government. Mrs. Nebo lived in the white suburb of Houghton with a large swimming pool gleamed at the back of her mansion. Mrs. Nebo saw a lovely Indian dress and decided to buy it; she was looking for a silk scarf that will match the dress she bought. She found it in Moghul Boutique which is owned by Mr. Sakur a Muslim man. Mr. Sakur does not accept cheques at his store and he refuse to sell the scarf to Mrs. Nebo.
